Tape it Off to the Carpet

When painting the baseboard, most painters slides the masking tape under the baseboard. However, this is time-consuming and does not create a watertight seal between its baseboard and the Carpet. Instead, press the tape onto the baseboard and cover about 1/4 inch of the bottom edge. Press firmly on the Carpet while applying the tape. In this way, the tape keeps the Carpet in place while painting. Later, when the tape is peeled off, the Carpet lifts up and covers the unpainted edges of the baseboard. Use high-quality tape for this task. Improves skirting board grip and holding power. Add cheap tape strips for more comprehensive protection of the Carpet. Finally, spread the drop cloth over the tape. This technique will not work if the Carpet has very little pile or if there is no padding under the Carpet.

Adapted old fabrics are Better

Adapted old fabrics are great for painting ceilings but overkill for just painting walls and pasting panels. Drop seat runners are typically 3-4 feet wide and don’t need to be folded multiple times, making them much easier and safer to work with. Folded drapes are easy to trip over, and there’s nothing good about stumbling with an open paint can in your hand.

Clean Up them Old Brushes

Even if you clean it carefully, it will eventually wear out. Consider keeping several different sizes for reuse as a cleaning brush. Old paint brushes are a great tool for dusting window shelves and other things that require a light touch.

Let your Tape Set

After applying the masking tape, move the putty knife or 5-in-1 tool over it to “fix” the tape to the trim. This will allow the tape to adhere to its surface and prevent the Paint from penetrating the trim from underneath the tape.

Make sure to Cover Windows and Doors

Masking tape application to protect the outer edges of the trim does not necessarily protect windows and doors. Therefore, it is important to cover them completely, especially when painting the ceiling.

Cut the Paint Before getting rid of the tape

If you remove the masking tape that is too long, the tape can pick up lumps of Paint. It is usually best to remove the masking tape while the Paint is relatively wet. However, if it is too long, carefully cut the tape along the line where the Paint touches the trim. This will surely prevent the paint from sticking to the tape and peeling off the wall

Do not let the Masking Tape overflow

Masking tape is a precautionary measure, not a warranty. It doesn’t matter how careful you are, there may be one or two gaps between the tape and the trim. When you expose the tape to a lot of paint, a few things happen. The secret is to pretend to be without tape. Do not push a lot of paint diagonally into the corner. Instead, lightly load the brush and move it down parallel to the panel.

Create the Smoothest Path Along the Ceiling

When painting a wall along a textured ceiling, it is difficult to create a straight line. As you move the brush, the hair gets caught in the texture, creating an eye-catching colored pop. Use the 5-in-1 tool or driver to remove about 1/8 “to 1/4” of the texture and create a clear path for the brush.

Remove the lumps

Some tools need cleaning, even if they are new. Some new roller covers (usually cheaper) have a layer of lint that separates from the cover. When you load the fuzzy roller first, the paint mixes with the fuzz, creating a small bump on the wall. One way to get rid of fluff is to wrap the masking tape completely around the roller cover. If you remove the tape, the excess fluff will come off.

Maintain your Brush

Brush combs are a great tool for cleaning brushes. Unlike other brush cleaning tools, the comb penetrates between the hairs for deep cleaning. It also prevents hair from sticking, keeps the brush soft and keeps its shape longer.

Keep your rag

This is a great way to avoid painting yourself. Clip the rags to your belt before the first can of paint breaks. Therefore, if you unknowingly wipe your hands on the legs of your pants, you will be protected. Use a large rag to spread it out a little so that the messy side faces outward.

Soak or Run water to your Brush

After a few hours of painting, the paint penetrates the bristles covered with steel ferrules. If you don’t remove the paint there, the paint will build up and the brush will become stiff and deform. After melting all the paint from the hair, flush the brush with water. Finally, comb to smooth the hair before cleaning up the brush. Store the brush in the package it came in to protect your hair.

Clean your Roller

Do not neglect the rollers. If you do not rinse the rollers, the hardened paint will remain on the bushings and bearings and eventually, the paint rollers will not rotate. Cleaning the tool does not have to be expensive. You can get great results with a $ 2 kitchen scrubbing brush purchased from a discount store.

You must lube your roller

Metal rust and metal bushings and bearings on paint rollers are no exception. Take a small amount of lubricant on the paint rollers before storage. The rusty paint roller may squeak. Shifting the roll back and forth for a few hours is monotonous enough. Adding thousands of squeaks can be completely crazy

Dont forget to Clean everything!

It makes no sense how careful you are, you will surely paint unintended things. Prepare a can of paint remover. Paint removers are great for removing dry latex paint from trims, countertops, door hinges, vinyl floors, or spills. You must avoid these most common mistakes people make when undertaking a painting project.

Always keep you garbage bag Close

Do not underestimate the amount of waste generated by painting. And it’s not a good idea to roam the house with a large bundle of wet paint-covered plastic and duct tape. Before you start, hang the trash bag on the doorknob or put it in a portable bag holder.
